"Steve’s music was entirely accessible for younger singers while still challenging them to find that place of music within themselves." ~Terry Shaw, Timberline High School

"I loved watching my students excitement learning a piece written for them.  This piece is very well written and a great performance piece at the middle/jr. high school level." -Nick Wammack, Appling Middle School

A Little About SDCompose.

Dr. Steve Danielson has been composing choral music for close to 20 years. He writes mainly for choirs, though there are other pieces in his catalog. His hymn arrangements have been performed across the US as well as in Canada, Mexico, and Kenya. In May 2017, In Turba won the Opus 7 Student Composition Competition at the Graduate Student level.

Steve currently lives in the Olympia, WA area where he moved in 2016 to earn a DMA in Choral Conducting at the University of Washington in Seattle - which he earned in 2019
. Some of his research interests include the choral music of Slovakia, improvisation in the choral classroom, and his dissertation was about the folk song collections of Carrie Grover. He is currently on faculty with Musical Talent in Me, a program designed to teach music theory to teachers in Kenya. He and his wife, Angi, have seven wonderful children.

He tries not to take himself too seriously.
