A Soldier's March (Choral/Vocal)
A Soldier's March
Music and orchestration by Steve Danielson
Text by Richard Manwaring
Approx Time: 15'10"
The text of this work is the result of 26 years of active military duty. Richard writes from his experiences and feelings after serving during the Cold War, the Persian Gulf War, and again in Iraq in 2003. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Richard approached me about setting his epic poem to music. I was moved by the text and quickly realized that it would take a massive chorus and full orchestra along with a soloist/spoken narration to do this poem justice. I got up early every day for months to write. I will be premiering this piece with a smaller chamber orchestra in June 2021, but look forward to performing it with a full orchestra in mid-2022.
Today's purchase includes the choral parts as well as a score for the Baritone soloist. The score and orchestral parts need to be purchased separately here.
